Accessing the ER9 Network via Terminal Services
(Updated 8-10)
Terminal Services (abbreviated to TSWeb) allows you to access the Easton/Redding/Region 9 (ER9) network from anywhere that you have internet access.
Below are the instructions for accessing Terminal Services. Please be sure to see the very important notes and checklist at the end of this document. It is advisable to review that portion of this document before attempting to connect to terminal services.
To access Terminal Services:
- Open Internet Explorer and go to the Redding Elementary School Web Site: http://www.er9.org/res
- Click on the "Staff Pages" link on the left-hand side.
- Click on “Link to TS Web from Home
- Within your browser window, you will get the Terminal Services logon screen as follows:
If the “Connect” button is greyed out, this means your computer does not have Remote Desktop Active X Control installed. If this is the case, the following screen will appear:
You must install Remote Desktop ActiveX Control to make the connection.
- Note the “Address” field at the top of your browser and notice the address that is there. You will see:
http://72.10.105.154 /tsweb/default.htm if you are at home.
- Where it says “Server:” on the screen, enter whatever follows the “http://” in the address line.
From home, you enter: 72.10.105.154
- Allow the default “Size:” to remain “Full Screen.”
- Click on the “Connect” button. You will get a network logon window. There will be a dark background with a picture and “Dell” appearing to the left of the logon window. Important: Enter your regular network username (first initial followed by last name) and current network password. Make sure that the “Log On To” field contains “ER9.” Click “OK.” You will get the Terminal Services desktop.
- You are now working, not on your local desktop computer, but on a server located at John Read Middle School.
- You now have access to the applications on this desktop. They will operate at the speed of the server—not that of the local desktop. You can use Microsoft Excel, Word, or PowerPoint, and Smartboard software regardless of whether or not you have those applications on your home computer. Note: Outlook is not currently available. Other applications, such as SASIxp may be added at a later date.
